How God’s Grace Saved Gab Andrew Torba, November 10, 2021November 10, 2021 Share this: Every fall I try to take time to sit and reflect on how God has worked in my life over the past year to prepare myself for the most blessed Advent Season. This year in particular I am overwhelmed by the goodness and grace of God’s work in my life. Despite the chaos, noise, and wickedness going on around me in this fallen world I have never in my life felt closer to God. The fruits of the Spirit are plenty and God’s Grace has overflowed my cup. Gab is growing so quickly it’s getting hard for me to keep up personally with all of the incredible things God is doing. We just expanded our infrastructure with some massive new servers. Tens of thousands of people from around the world are joining our community every single week. Business owners are thriving on Gab in the Parallel Economy. The demand for Gab Ads is off the charts and giving us more working capital to expand our team and scale in a way that we’ve never been able to do in five years of operation. Business is good and God is good. In order to understand why I am so thankful to God and filled with total humility and gratitude, you have to understand where I was personally and where Gab as a business was just three short years ago. In 2018 Gab had been systematically removed from the entire internet all in the span of about one week: domain registrars, multiple hosting providers, email providers, third-party services, and more had all pulled the rug out from under us. Gab was completely off the internet for 6 entire days, but on the 7th day by the grace of God we were back online. That didn’t stop the enemy from running a victory lap all week, claiming that Gab was gone from the internet for good. God had other plans. I’ll never forget the weeks and months that followed this moment three years ago. I learned very quickly who my real friends were and who I could count on when it really mattered. I learned that the only one I can truly depend on and put my faith in is Jesus Christ. In those darkest moments of my life I clung to the cross floating above a sea of fear, doubt, and uncertainty as I worked to restore my business–and my life, from a pit of ash. I share this testimony with you to encourage you during these uncertain times. A business that I had given up everything to start and build over two years had been reduced to ash. My face was all over the international news being demonized. My family was being harassed and threatened. From a worldly perspective, I was left barely standing with nothing. But I didn’t have nothing, I had my faith in Jesus Christ and his Grace was and always is sufficient. The lesson from my testimony is that you must never give up, even when it seems like all is lost. Put your faith in Christ and he will reach into the waters of the abyss and pull you up. It’s only after going through trials and looking back that we can see how God was working in our lives to make us more dependent on Him, more resilient, more faithful, and more determined to obey His Word. When you submit your life fully to Christ your mindset undergoes a radical transformation. A worldly mindset is often dominated by worldly desires. Climbing up the corporate ladder, buying more “stuff,” attaining worldly power or fame, submitting to carnal desires, and worse. None of these things will ever fulfill you. None of these things will bring you any form of sustained happiness, peace, or joy. These things can only be found by fully relying on God. My dad always told me that being a Christian takes courage. I never understood what he meant until I went out into the anti-Christ world as a Christian. The Bible tells us over and over and over again to be not afraid. We must boldly proclaim the Gospel, we must open share the ways that God is working in our lives, and we must build our lives around bringing glory, and honor, and worship to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.
